I visited Element a few weeks ago for dinner and was very pleasantly surprised by what I discovered – a comfortable restaurant. great service, and food that was punching above its price.
This time I was back to try their Brunch offering which incorporates lunch options and runs from 11am – 5pm.
Once again we were made to feel really welcome and quickly relaxed back into the comfortable wingbacks.
We decided that one of us would have a breakfast dish, while the other would go for a lunch so we could experience both. I chose the Full Scottish Breakfast (£9.25).
The breakfast includes a Crombie’s of Edinburgh pork sausage, grilled mushroom, haggis, Ramsay of Carluke Ayrshire bacon & black pudding a slow roast tomato, potato scone, toast & a free range egg cooked the way you like. You can also add homemade baked beans for a small surcharge. This is a breakfast that brings together some really quality products and that definitely came across in the eating. I highly recommend you add the baked beans on, they were a real highlight for me with a savoury tomato flavour and soft sweet onion running through them. I like the standard tinned beans, but this homemade version was a good accompaniment to the other quality ingredients on the breakfast.
Our lunch choice was the open Halloumi Sandwich with hummus, tzatziki and, red pepper. This was served with a pot of very good homemade chips. We both felt the quality and quantity was excellent for £6.95! As you can see it was a large slice of bread with plenty of halloumi, enough food to see you right through to dinner, or supper if you have a smaller appetite.
I’d highly recommend Element for Brunch or Lunch – really great value and excellent quality!
