I’m a fan of The Huxley, I’ve been several times before for lunch and light bites. After a lovely overnight stay at The Rutland Hotel (which I will feature in our places to stay section), we were invited to sample the breakfast offering at The Huxley.
The family love a breakfast out, they reckon it makes them feel as if we’re on holiday, which I guess we kind of were this time.
We kicked things off with some coffee and two vibrantly coloured Fruit Smoothies, a real treat as we haven’t joined in with the smoothie maker/NutriBullet craze at home yet.
Then we were straight into the French Toast & Bacon and Pancakes & Bacon, all served with lashings of maple syrup.
Not healthy in the slightest so we attempted to balance things up with the Seasonal Fruit Plate, this was the only disappointment. At £6.50 the seasonal fruit plate ended up being a small bowl with orange, apple, kiwi and watermelon. Not sure if this selection was seasonal particularly, perhaps ‘Tropical Fruit Bowl‘ would have been a more accurate description, we also felt £6.50 was a bit steep in comparison to the prices of other breakfast items, which were really good value. Nevertheless the fruit was fresh and did cut through the richness of the main dishes which was the aim.
I’d definitely recommend The Huxley for breakfast. Everything is well cooked, and the menu has all your favourites including a Full Scottish and Eggs Benedict.
