I was a bit of a latecomer to Instagram, but after hitting 10k on our Foodinburgh Instagram, I have become more than a little bit addicted.
It was here that I first discovered The Westroom, their photos would constantly catch my eye until I decided I really must go. This time we just visited for breakfast, but their sharing food looks great too so a return visit is most certainly on the cards for 2017.
The Westroom is a bar by night with an enticing cocktail menu (I happened to notice quite an interesting looking Parma Violet based one that is also on my 2017 hit list), and a cafe by day.
The breakfast menu features all your favourites, all to be enjoyed with a bit of relaxed chat, or the papers if you’re dining alone.
The husband was sticking to his diet so opted for the Poached Eggs and Toast, perfectly cooked and some remarkably good bread – we both agreed that it elevated our breakfasts, no idea whether they are making it on site or buying it in from a local bakery but it’s very good.
I had the French Toast (sorry I can’t bring myself to call it ‘Eggy Bread’, it’s a little pet hate of mine), Crispy Bacon and Maple Syrup. It’s a dish we are more than familiar with and our choice for Christmas Day each year. This version did not disappoint, and at £6.50 felt like good value for what was a sizeable portion.
The Westroom lived up to all those tempting photos on Instagram, can’t wait to go back and try that cocktail and the sharing platters.
