We often pass Herringbone as it’s on the way to our parents’ house, and Alex always mentions how nice it looks. A couple of weeks ago on a wet and windy Saturday we were doing hockey tournament lifts (our girls won their section!) we were looking for somewhere to hide out. Herringbone was the place we hit upon first so we sought cover with a stack of magazines.
The breakfast/brunch offering included all the favourites: eggs Benedict and Florentine, a full Scottish, eggs any way you like, and French toast. Eggs Florentine is usually my pick, but I fancied something sweet so opted for the French Toast with Bacon and Maple Syrup which was served in a stack. I needed a little more maple syrup this particular morning which the waiter was happy to provide. At £4.95 it felt like great value, with a great ratio of bacon to French toast!
Alex had Scrambled Egg and Bacon on Toast. It was really nicely presented and the scrambled eggs had been folded with some chive which I thought was a thought was a nice touch.
We also had five hot drinks! We ended up staying for three hours and didn’t feel rushed at all. We enjoyed the relaxed vibe and spent the morning reading magazines and gaining inspiration for our blog posts. It was a lovely morning. What made it even better was that it was EXCEPTIONAL value – our entire bill was £19.90!
If you’re looking for somewhere for a chilled out brunch and you’re on a budget, we can highly recommend Herringbone!
