Burger & Fringe Pop Up…with a Daffy’s Den Chaser
August 13, 2018

What’s better than a Festival Fringe pop up?

Two Festival Fringe pop ups!

And that’s exactly what you get at Radisson Blu on the Royal Mile – you can enjoy Burger & Fringe and Daffy’s Den during one gin drenched, burger filled visit.

I went to Burger & Fringe last year and it was so good I couldn’t wait to visit again.

We kicked things off with a classic Mai Tai and a signature ‘Rosie and Gin‘.

We picked a couple of shary things for the table, but there is a more traditional starters menu, the highlight of which looked like a Confit Duck Spring Roll (another reason to return next year!). We had some tasty little Haggis Balls and some Chicken Wings in preparation for the main event.

Burger & Fringe

The ‘Spartan‘ burger is one of the best burgers I’ve ever had, and I’m therefore both relieved and gutted that it’s a once a year deal, because I could get very fat eating these. Tempura prawn with samphire and mayo on a soft and sweet brioche bun. F**k yeah (if there’s a time for profanity, now is it)

Burger & Fringe

My dining partner (the sister in law whom I practically called an alcoholic in my last post, good job she has a GSOH and is happy to continue speaking to me) had the Auld Reekie which she said had pulled pork on it. I can’t remember the finer details as we went on that evening to enjoy a few more cocktails…

Firstly as dessert (above)…

I mentioned a second pop up earlier in the post, and I have a bit of a confession…

I was supposed to head over to Daffy’s Gin Den for that pop up chaser in the form of a gin cocktail or two, but we spent so long stuffing our faces with the epic burgers we missed it. I implore you not to do the same, the cocktail list looked great and I almost spilled a few tears that I didn’t get a chance to try the ‘Jump For Joyce‘.

Thank goodness for Epicurean which helped heal my wounds with a nightcap, and ‘one for the road’ after that.

Burger & Fringe is everything a good pop up should be – the kind of food you wait all year to eat again. Thankfully you don’t have to wait that long, it’s there until 26th August so get on down!
