In the prime location of the High Street (Royal Mile) in Edinburgh sits Burgers & Beers Grillhouse, offering, well, burgers and beers, right? Well yes, but they offer a lot more than that.
We had some BBQ Chicken Wings to start which were amazing. Really crispy and well cooked and coated in a sweet, tangy BBQ sauce. The kitchen roll and wet wipes on the table came in very handy after these!
For mains, there was wide selection of burgers, all made with hand made, well seasoned patties complimented with awesome ingredients such as sweetcure bacon and peanut butter. There are some unique concoctions on offer. We had the ‘Marcellus Wallace’ made with Peanut Butter, Monterey Jack Cheese and Hot Sauce. It was delicious but really filling. There’s lot of eating in these burgers, a whole 8oz in fact! We ordered a side of char grilled corn on the cob which was buttery and perfectly charred.
We also decided to give another main course a try, a Full Rack of Ribs which comes with a side of fries and coleslaw. The ribs themselves were delicious. They were so tender they fell of the bone and the dry rub seasoning gave them a deep, rich flavour. They were also coated in that wonderful BBQ sauce. Pass me more kitchen roll!
The kids menu was fairly standard, so we decided on the Hot Dog. The sausage was very good quality and the portion was very generous for a kids meal. What blew the kids meal out of the water for said kid, was that we treated her with a ‘Freakshake’. A massive milkshake adorned with delicious sweet treats. She decided on the Nutella and Pretzel freakshake which was outstanding. Sweet, salty and creamy. Highly recommended.
