I’ve decided to share a few shorter foodie posts that I hope will inspire you. They are not so much recipes, but little twists, or ingredient combinations that I love.
I’m kicking off with porridge. Porridge is a Scottish favourite and very low cost. As we are still on a health kick here as well as aiming for a nice and simple Christmas, I am looking at ways to give the small pleasures in life a little twist.
On Christmas morning we will of course be going all out with our usual French Toast, Bacon & Maple Syrup, but what about all the other mornings? Toast doesn’t seem special enough, a fry up is too much, and I can’t eat Quality Street for breakfast every day (can I?).
Porridge is warm and filling so it checks two boxes but it can hardly be classed as indulgent, unless you pimp it up.
My pimped up Christmassy Porridge this morning was made with raspberry jam, toasted almonds, and vanilla syrup. It felt like the perfect start to the Christmas break.
