Coffee Cocktails have become very popular and new bar The Raging Bull has decided to put them at the front of their menu as a point of difference. We went along to give them, and the rest of the cocktail menu a try.
The Raging Bull is located on Lothian Road which used to be a bit of a rowdy downmarket street, a new collection of nice restaurants (for casual dining try Topolobamba or Byron) and bars has seen it progress into a more desirable place to spend an evening.
We started with the Noche Dulce featuring hazelnut liqueur and topped with whipped cream. Rich and indulgent indeed, and very reasonably priced for Edinburgh at just £6.50.
My drinking partner for the evening, a rum fan, went straight for Grandpa’s Cough Medicine featuring Kraken Rum and Tia Maria with almond milk. It came with a Chocolate Bourbon which I managed to drop on the floor (they replaced it for us, phew!)
We took a break from the coffee cocktails for something a bit fruity, Strawberry Fields for myself featuring Ketel 1 Vodka and coconut rum. Not Quite Hemingway was a zingy affair with Tanqueray Gin, lime and pink grapefruit. Both were refreshing and very well made.
For our final round (we were heading up to The Hub for Cocktails In The City!) we returned to the coffee cocktails. I had the Pharmaceutical Stimulant, this was a strong one featuring Tia Maria AND Kahlua, it kept me going right up Castle Terrace to my next cocktail. My drinking partner played it risky and went for the Supersonic Tonic which was a curious mix of gin, lime, and fresh espresso. One to try if you’re feeling adventurous!
