Becky and I had been anticipating dining at Tiffins since well before our trip, but I have to be honest and say it was a bit of a mixed bag. To start we all had the Lobster-Popcorn Thai Curry Soup, which was fragrant and light – I did find myself wanting to steal other everyone else’s piece of lobster though. A very good starter that really set the stage for the mains.
I ordered the Tiffin option – a couple of smaller dishes and some rice on the side. The Pork Tamale was not to my taste at all, although I think that was more of a personal texture issue than anything I can blame on the chef. The Crispy Fish dish was much more palatable. I think given a bit of time, Tiffins could be really good. They have a nice location tucked away in Animal Kingdom, and the starter showed real promise – I’d be interested in returning to see how they bed in.
After an afternoon cycle (on bikes without handle brakes!), we had worked up enough of an appetite to enjoy dinner at California Grill.
California Grill is located at the top of The Contemporary Resort and is a great place to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks, especially if it’s rainy, which it was on the night we were there. We ordered a couple of cocktails and the best Charcuterie Board I’ve ever had and enjoyed the view – it was one of those perfect moments.
By the time our mains arrived, I’d had several cocktails which I think is evident in this picture! With it being a grill restaurant and our final evening, I couldn’t resist going for the steak – Oak-fired Fillet of Beef , Black Truffle, and Caramelised Red Onion Risotto, Roasted Carrots, Herb Salsa Verde. It was incredibly indulgent, not even the afternoon bike rides made up for this! No regrets though.
We didn’t have enough time to really do the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival justice. We did manage a very hurried couple of hours though, because this is something you really don’t want to miss if you’re a foodie. Each country within EPCOT becomes home to little eateries based on countries around the world. In Hawaii we had this Shredded Pork Kahlua Burger With Dole Pineapple Topping.
We darted on to Greece for some traditional Gyros.
Before grabbing some dessert at The Artistry of Chocolate and Wine.
