Not technically an Edinburgh product, but one being shipped to us and distributed by Edinburgh New Town Cookery School; the Texturas range has been 50 years in the making.
The Centenarian Olive trees are harvested of only their finest olives, before cold mechanical extraction releases them of their oil. Bottled on demand the Texturas range retains all the flavour and aroma of freshly pressed oil.
There are five oils available which can all be purchased at Edinburgh New Town Cookery School.
Arbequina (Intensity 6)
Offering an intense aroma but with a milder taste, Arbequina is ideal for people who like a less intense oil.
Eco is organically farmed and has a higher intensity, I found the flavour quite peppery. Ideal for those who appreciate sustainability and organic food.
Morisca Reserve (Intensity 9)
My favourite of the oils, this is produced from the Morisca olive grown exclusively in the south of the Extremadura region. It has a deep colour and and intense, but perfectly balanced taste.
Manzanilla Sevillana (Intensity 10)
This oil has a wonderful green colour and an intense peppery aftertaste. It is made with Manzanilla Olives which offer greater sustainability and resistance to heat than other olive oils. Good for cooking with.
An award winning, unfiltered extra virgin olive oil produced by a small family business in the hills in the north of the region of Extremadura. Enjoy it with salad or bread.
