Are you craving American food? Here are a selection of restaurants in Edinburgh where you can feast on burgers, hot dogs, barbecue meat, and ribs!
Whistlestop Barber Shop
Whistlestop Barber Shop is a favourite of ours. You can get everything from hot dogs, to burgers, chicken and waffles, and one of their specialities Dr Pepper Ribs! What’s more they’re members on our Foodinburgh Card – 2 racks of those Dr Pepper Ribs and 6 wings to share for just £25! Find out more here…
Down The Hatch
I talk a lot about Down The Hatch on social media and I haven’t met one person that has visited and not enjoyed Neal’s take on American and Canadian classics like Poutine & Burgers. It’s all about the daily specials at Down The Hatch which you can check out via their Instagram, wash it down with one of their indulgent milkshakes. Down The Hatch are Foodinburgh Card partners, find out more here.
Burgers and Beers Grillhouse
Situated on the historic Royal Mile, Burgers and Beers Grillhouse offers up classic American style burgers with quirky names relating to what the burger contains and loads of other American classics if you’re not in the mood for a burger. The burgers are all 100% Aberdeen Angus steak mince, hand pressed on site.
If it’s a burger you’re hankering for then this is the place to go. This is burger (and hotdog) heaven on a plate. Proper grub, that makes mouth-watering memories. Their burgers are stacked full of flavours, served on brioche buns with their very own burger sauce or ranch dressings. For a Canadian flavour, try their poutine (the new beef brisket poutine is epic!) and finish everything off with their delicious homemade sorbets.
You can get a massive 25% off at Burger with the Foodinburgh Card.
Hard Rock Cafe
With hundreds of café’s all over the world and a long legacy of getting it right, the Hard Rock Café in Edinburgh can’t be overlooked. The portions here are big, just like in America, so pace yourself. We like the New York Striploin, the ribs, and the wings.
This is another place that has perfected the art of the burger. Their secret is in starting with their fresh, flavoursome, homemade burgers on a squishy bun, keeping it simple and doing it properly (pink and juicy), then letting you decide on the sides and toppings you want to go with it. Just how burgers should be!
There’s only one place for real American barbecue in Edinburgh, and that’s Bubba Q. Here you can enjoy brisket, smoked chicken, ribs, wings, pulled pork and hot links. They also make their own selection of four sauces, plus BBQ pit beans, smothered fries and a host of other sides. Try it all with a Pitmaster Tray – available at a special discount with the Foodinburgh Card.
OX184’s menu includes some dishes inspired by our American cousins – Cowboy Steak, Burgers, Longboys, and Baby Back Ribs are served up in their industrial style bar and restaurant which also specialises in craft beer and whisky.
