Grand Central Hotel, Glasgow
July 5, 2017

I’ve always wanted to visit a railway hotel, they elicit nostalgic feelings of a bygone era where the railway hotel was the smartest place to stay in town. The Grand Central couldn’t be more connected to Grand Central Station with a bar that overlooks trains arriving and departing – it’s a spotter’s paradise (and very busy!)

The Hotel

The Grand Central is an an iconic Glasgow hotel, an imposing landmark adjacent to Glasgow Central Station. It’s not only directly attached to the train station but right the centre of Glasgow and the Style Mile.
Glasgow Hotel

The Grand Central Hotel is a busy hotel with 21 flexible event spaces that house meetings, events, and weddings.

The hotel has recently had a £250k refurbishment with the Grand Room undergoing a full redecoration to bring 21st-century touches to the rich heritage and detailing of the original room.

The hotel also boasts superfast Wi-Fi throughout the hotel.

As well as a champagne bar, Champagne Central, which overlooks the train station, there’s also a deli and a full service restaurant, Tempus. Read a full review of Tempus here.

The Room

After a quick bit of shopping on the Style Mile we checked in to our family room which was probably the largest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in.

As well as a super king bed there was a seating area which turned into the second sleeping area.

The bathroom felt small in comparison with just a shower, but some very lovely The White Company toiletries.

The welcome chocolates are also a nice touch.

We slept well despite there being a Prom on the night we were there, plus the usual train noise. If you are sensitive to noise it might not be the best choice for you.

The Breakfast

Breakfast is served in the Tempus restaurant and is presented in a buffet style.

I started with a healthy bowl of yoghurt, fruit, nuts and seeds.

Breakfast

I quickly followed that up with some items from the hot buffet.

Overall the Grand Central Hotel was a great experience and somewhere I’d choose to stay if I was taking a long train trip, or I was spending a couple of busy nights in Glasgow and wanted to be at the centre of things.
