My first experience of Hendersons of Edinburgh was in their Hanover Street branch, we ate a very memorable vegetable lasagne.
During a visit to a business event at Dynamic Earth, we decided to give their Holyrood branch. Hendersons specialises in vegetarian and vegan food, which suited my friend who suffers from food intolerances.
The vibe inside is relaxed and the menu featured a wide range of dishes, so much so that even if you are a meat eater, you probably won’t miss that element.
My friend ordered a hearty soup which was served with big chunks of homemade bread. Flavours change daily, check the specials board for the day’s soup.
I had the potato croquette which was full of surprises, bits of onion and chunks of cheese. It was a large portion, plenty for lunch.
We both ordered a big healthy salad; the choices that day included an Asian flavoured beetroot slaw, a butternut squash and feta salad, and a carrot salad.
We stayed and chatted for ages, and I was pleased to discover they stocked my favourite soft drink at the moment – Fentiman’s Rose Lemonade.
A great place to lunch whether you’re vegetarian, vegan, or a meat eater.
