Holy Cheesemas, it was good!
December 13, 2018

What’s big and fat and drenched in cheese? The Holy Cheesemas!

I’m a bit of a fan of Byron anyway so I was more than happy to go bond over a burger with my soon-to-be teenage daughter.

We ordered a couple of ‘While You Waits’ – Spicy Buffalo Wings and buttermilk fried Nuggets – neither were huge portions so you don’t have to worry about ruining your appetite.  Both tasted really good but I’d choose the wings over the nuggets if I was visiting again (read: WHEN I visit again).

I obviously chose the Holy Cheesemas for my main, this behemoth comes topped with American cheese, smoked cheese, cheese crisp, pickled red onions, lettuce, spicy garlic mayonnaise, onion ring, and a scoop of bacon macaroni cheese.  It is a celebration of cheese.  I did wonder if it would be overkill, but was pleased to find the pickled red onion helped to cut through all the cheese.

If that isn’t enough cheese for you you can add a bowl of molten Byron cheese sauce for dunking.

Erin went for something a bit meatier – the Big Smoke – a beef burger with pulled BBQ beef brisket, bacon, mature Cheddar, crispy onions, lettuce, pickles and smoked chilli BBQ sauce.  It was Girl vs Food and I’m proud to say girl won!

If you’re looking for a dirty alternative to the classic festive lunch menu, definitely head along to Byron. Merry Cheesemas everyone!
