I don’t tend to revisit places twice, especially not hotels as not too much changes. However when I heard Hotel Colessio had had a refurb I was keen to go back. The hotel is a five minute walk from Stirling Castle and our plan was to take the opportunity to visit while we there. Full Disclosure: this visit did not take place as it was a very sunny day and we were lured into a beer garden instead!
Confessions out of the way, let’s take another look at Hotel Colessio
Your arrival at Hotel Colessio is an impressive one, as you ascend the hill the Victorian landmark is imposing and the interior is just as lovely. Whilst being a very smart hotel, it doesn’t feel at all pretentious and the welcome is friendly and informal. It’s a place where you can certainly feel at ease.
We had a large room overlooking Stirling they have a mix of Deluxe Suites (perfect if you’re celebrating a special occasion), Premium King and Club Double rooms. The bathroom in our room was particularly impressive with a corner bath and a large modern sink area with a marble finish. It’s the kind of room you may want to indulge in and stay all day, it’s that comfortable. The deep window sills offer a place to sit and read or watch the world go by.
If you can manage to drag yourself out of your room, there is a contemporary cocktail bar which is well worth visiting before you dine in their grill restaurant (more on the food in my next post).
I have recommended Hotel Colessio to friends and family a few times now and currently it would be my first choice in Stirling. My advice? Stay a couple of nights, that gives you a day to make the most of your room, and a second day to do Stirling Castle and enjoy some shopping!
