Glasgow hosts Jurassic Kingdom from August 26th until 10th September! The life-size animatronic dinosaur tour opened its doors to over 4000 visitors last weekend and has been the most popular stop on its tour around the UK.
The 30 full scale prehistoric creatures are waiting to be discovered around Glasgow Botanic Gardens. Visitors are invited to travel back over 65 million years and come face to face with a fearsome T-Rex, watch the Deinonychus and Tenontosaurus do battle or meet the gentle but most definitely giant 16 metre long Diplodocus.
Visitors follow a trail around the leafy Botanics and encounter the giant dinosaurs as part of a walking tour which lasts around 60 minutes, depending on how fast you walk… or run. Little ones will enjoy the snarling jaws, moving eyes, swaying tails and roaring sound effects.
Other activities include an excavation scene where younger children can get hands on and dig to unearth a T-Rex fossil, immersive virtual reality headsets offering a range of digital dinosaur experiences and plenty of photo opportunities.
I have to say we definitely felt the effect of the amount of tickets that were sold, it was a little busy on opening day and this led to a bit of a bottleneck at the beginning of the trail – I recommend going at a quieter time if you can. Some of the larger dinosaurs were really impressive, with the smaller ones having less of an impact. The family ticket offers the best value and it’s an attraction that will appeal to big dino fans – just try and go midweek!
