I’m always on the look out for places to go and do a bit work on my laptop, and Loudons has become one of my favourite places to go recently. Located in the Fountainbridge area it’s a short walk from the cinema, so while the rest of the family catch a film I walk along to Loudons.
It’s spacious inside, that’s one of the reasons I like it – you can nearly always get a seat and you don’t feel like you’re on top of people. The second reason I like it is they have complimentary wifi. The third, and by no means the least is of course the food…
I was dining with a friend on this occasion. She had come planning to choose something healthy, but even she couldn’t resist the lure of Loudons calorific breakfasts (healthy options are very much available!). When the French Toast with Bananas and Maple Syrup arrived we were both worrying that our cake plans would need to be put on hold. Alas, like a trooper she cleared the lot and managed some cake too!
I reverted to type and elected to have the Eggs Benedict, one of my favourite breakfasts. Runny eggs and a good creamy hollandaise, I had no complaints at all.
Then it was time for the main event, the cake. Loudons does a great selection of cakes which always includes a few gluten free choices. The breakfasts also have the option of gluten free bread too.
We chose the coconut and lime cake, I think? They also do lemon. Not that I’m there stuffing my face with cake all the time or anything!
Whether you’re meeting with friends, clients, or stopping by to do a bit of work, Loudon’s is a great place to relax and enjoy breakfast or lunch.
