Otro have launched a new Make Your Own Meal menu for kids to help ‘Little VIPs’, and their parents, enjoy the holidays!
We went at lunch time and enjoyed some dishes from the set lunch menu too. The children’s menu is £9 for a main and drink with an optional dessert for an extra charge. The choices are limited to Chicken Breast or Fish Fingers, or tomato pasta for veggies – hopefully in time they can develop the offering to more choices as the food is very good quality. Little VIPs also receive an activity pack with a few little edible treats too – a very nice touch.
Our Little VIP (my niece, Evie) enjoyed doing the colouring in while her Mum and I enjoyed our starter from the set lunch menu – Serrano Ham & Pea Croquettes for me, Chicken Liver Parfait for her. We got to eat it in almost complete peace thanks to the activity pack!
Evie’s Fish Fingers went down well, they were homemade and clearly hit the spot as she polished off the lot with no problem. She also had a very large portion of peas and chips. I’d say it would feed a child right up to ten or eleven, depending on their appetite.
Her mum had the Lamb Shank which was also a large portion, served with chick peas. I had the Hake with Chicken Butter Sauce, because who can resist chicken butter sauce? AND it was topped with crispy chicken skin. Delicious!
Evie was excited to receive her Vanilla Ice Cream, but not surprisingly was more than happy to help us out with our desserts! The Yorkshire rhubarb, pistachio, stem ginger & rose water pavlova delivered strongly on the rose flavour and I loved the rhubarb and the ginger notes. I enjoyed this far more than I thought I would. The Choux pastry bun, praline cream, Baileys ice cream, salted caramel was equally delicious – two very good desserts.
We thought the new kids menu was great, and the staff were surprisingly welcoming and child friendly. The quality of the food was excellent and in time hopefully they can extend the menu to a few more options.
