Burger have a new menu, and it’s awesome.
A bold opening statement, but everything I had I’d order again. Don’t worry if you have old favourites, they haven’t completely ripped up the old menu.
The restaurant itself remains unchanged, and one of the things I like about Burger is you get table service.
To kick us off they have a NEW Milkshake – Hazelnut Mocha, which we tried alongside the Salted Caramel. The milkshakes aren’t cheap at £6.95 but are made with fours scoops of homemade ice cream, and just 80 – 120ml of milk in each shake. Think of it more as dessert.
I had the NEW Firecracker Chicken Burger – marinated, fried chicken thigh with cheese, smoky chipotle slaw, Frank’s Red Hot, pickled gherkin, beef tomato and ranch on toasted brioche. The thigh instead of breast made the world of difference here, it made for a juicier softer texture which really worked. I also LOVE Frank’s Hot Sauce at the moment so this is right up my street.
I teamed my burger with the NEW Chicken Salt fries which are basically like the chip version of roast chicken crisps – not much to dislike about that!
The husband couldn’t be swayed from his favourite, the Bacon Cheese – Scottish beef with Red Leicester, crispy maple bacon, pickled gherkin, beef tomato and BURGER. sauce on toasted brioche.
On the side the NEW Brisket Cheese Fries – these were the highlight of the day. Soft pulled beef brisket in a deeply flavoured meaty jus, atop crispy fries and dowsed in melted cheese. It’s next generation poutine, and worth a visit alone.
We love the new menu and can’t wait to go back – I need to wait until I’m hungry enough for the Firecracker Chicken Burger AND those Brisket Cheese Fries!
