With Glasgow being just an hour a way it’s a great place to spend the night if you’re already visiting Edinburgh. Alternatively, if you live in Edinburgh everyone knows Glasgow is a great place for a shopping trip, and Number 10 is ideally located to retreat to after a long day in the city centre.
Number 10 is a boutique hotel located on Glasgow’s Southside, and across the road from Queen’s Park.
The hotel and rooms benefit from original Victorian features: the rooms, dining area, bar, and function suite are spread across the two properties which are linked by well kept gardens and a beer garden.
The restaurant has just had a refurbishment. The interior is smart and the service we received was excellent. The restaurant has an adjoining bar which is a comfortable place to enjoy a drink before and after your meal. Read more about the food at Number 10 Hotel here.
The hotel has wifi in all areas – perfect if like me you can’t leave work at home!
We were given the Honeymoon Suite during our stay, which was huge. The king size bed was dwarfed by the high ceilings and large fireplace.
The bathroom was equally impressive with the largest jacuzzi bath I’ve seen, it was bigger than many of the hot tubs I’ve been in!
I had two minor issues. Firstly the TV was tiny, I appreciate that watching television on your wedding night is probably not top priority, but when you’ve been married 13 years (unlucky for some!) a bit of additional entertainment and escapism is much appreciated.
My second thing was the seating area. There were two quite uncomfortable chairs, a room like this would easily take a couple of sofas or some really nice wing backs where you could relax/read. We ended up lounging on the bed instead.
However the room had plenty of tea and coffee and all the other amenities you would want and it was very comfortable. Despite being on what could have been quite a busy road, we actually found it was very peaceful.
Number 10 offers both a continental and a la carte breakfast. The continental items are all lined up on the bar and you can help yourself.
We opted for the cooked breakfast – you were invited to choose whichever components you preferred – it was well cooked and all the items seemed good quality.
Overall we had a lovely stay at Number 10 Hotel – the restaurant, quiet location and the jacuzzi bath were all real selling points for us and I would definitely recommend it.
