We were recently in Stockbridge for the launch of new restaurant, Taisteal. Prior to the event we decided to visit Rollo for a quick bite to eat.
Rollo is perfect for this kind of dining, the menu is made up of nibbles, plates, and bowls which lends itself to a range of dining styles. The low lighting creates a relaxed atmosphere where your first thought is to order a glass of wine and relax.
We knew we would be having canapés so decided to keep it quite light.
Larger plates like this scallop dish range from £10-£14. The scallops were really well cooked, a classic combination of ingredients that was well executed.
Instead of our usual carbs we settled on a light and fruity salad. The addition of nuts really made this salad, along with the zingy dressing.
The pork dish was rich and the jus complemented the meat. The dish was one of the more expensive on the menu but there was enough for three to have a portion like this.
I really enjoyed the flexibility of the menu, and while some dishes seemed a little expensive, overall our bill was very reasonable, although we only had a few dishes on this occasion. We’re looking forward to visiting again and having a more substantial dinner and the opportunity to try a wider range of dishes.
