My daughter is 12 now and not having a little kid anymore means relaxing weekends. Waking up leisurely, reading the paper, possibly a spot of brunch or a nice Sunday lunch somewhere, it’s one of my favourite things.
Sparkling Sundays at Cucina have caused a bit of a stir over on the Facebook page. A three course lunch with prosecco and coffee included throughout for £35 – it’s the perfect way to spend a relaxing Sunday.
The starter course is buffet style – you can enjoy a selection of pastries, brioche, salad, bread, fish, charcuterie, and cheese.
I took advantage of the unlimited prosecco while my pregnant sister in law was offered a non alcohol cocktail which we thought was a nice touch.
Sparkling Sundays offer a mix of breakfast and lunch dishes. My sister in law went down the breakfast route with a Full Scottish, complete with steak. The menu has now been developed to include some Eggs Benedict dishes too – my favourite.
I went down the lunch route with Ribeye of Beef, there was also a Roast Chicken option but I was very happy with my choice. The beef was perfectly pink and the gravy was rich from the pan juices. A selection of vegetables was served on the side.
Desserts again had a mix of breakfast and lunch style dishes. We chose one of each – Waffles with Banana and your choice of Maple Syrup or Nutella and Chocolate Pave, Peanut Butter, Chocolate Sauce, Peanut Brittle. The waffles came as a large portion, so bear that in mind when you’re filling up on starters!
The Chocolate Pave was delicious, the sweet chocolate and salty peanut butter was balanced perfectly and I finished the lot.
We really enjoyed the Sparkling Sunday, it was a nice relaxed atmosphere and the menu offered something for everyone, we’d definitely go back.
Sparkling Sundays are available 12.30pm – 3pm every Sunday at Cucina – £35 with unlimited prosecco refills and coffee.
