Well apart from everyone dying, 2016 hasn’t been too bad. Well if you ignore Brexit, the American elections, the ongoing war in Syria…
Ok, 2016 hasn’t been a great year….but the food has been excellent, so let’s focus on that.
Here is our Best of 2016 round up – click on the titles to read more about each of our choices…
Best Foodie Experience – New Moon Dinner at Secret Herb Garden
A perfect evening in the countryside in the middle of a beautiful garden, with good food and good company, what more could you want?
Best Afternoon Tea – Greywalls
This was a close call, the service was actually better at The Tower, but Greywalls edged it on the food.
Best Gastropub – The Bridge Inn
Based in Ratho, it was also one of our favourite out of town restaurants in 2016.
An interesting menu with lots of choices for every occasion. Also family friend AND our daughter’s top restaurant of 2016!
Best Hotel Restaurant – The Printing Press
With a new menu to match the grand dining room, The Printing Press was a winner for us.
Best new restaurant, but also the best seafood we had in 2016.
This is not a picture of seafood, this was their very impressive flaming crème brûlée.
Burger is our go to place for a family dinner before cinema or bowling. We recommend the chicken wings and their own homemade sorbet.
Best Family Restaurant – Frontier
We love the quirky vibe in Frontier, perfect for kids of all ages through to teens.
Heads and Tales has become the bar we head to when we’re ready for a nightcap. A relaxed atmosphere and cosy corners make it a great place to end an evening. They also do gin tasting!
