The Huxley Bar and Restaurant on Rutland Street is a prime destination in Edinburgh when looking for good food and a few drinks. Set in comfortable surroundings, this stylish and contemporary bar is equally at home when having a chilled out lunch or an evening meal.
We were in for lunch with a party of five, including a child and the place was very busy but the staff did a great job of finding us a table. We got a few drinks in, including a cracking pint of Innis & Gunn Lager in a very nice glass.
Our food order comprised of various American style dishes. First off were the Roasted Chicken Wings in Buffalo Sauce. These were crispy with a nice spicy kick, cooled down by the blue cheese dip. We also had the American Corn Dog with Piggy Fries
(pictured above). An American hotdog, fried in batter then served with hand cut fries topped with pulled pork and cheese. It was every bit as delicious and indulgent as it sounds.
We also had the Sloppy Joe Burger which is topped with chilli and roasted peppers. This was really tasty and the chilli was just the right level of spicy. It was a bit messy to eat though, so remember to ask for extra napkins!
There is also a sandwich menu and from that, we had the Lamb Kofte Kebab Flatbread. This also came with fries and red cabbage. The kebabs were moist and nicely spiced and the flatbread was well made.
Having spotted a guy eating a Chilli Hotdog that looked amazing, we had to order one of those. I’m glad to say, it tasted as good as it looked. Superb chilli and cheese covering up a premium hotdog, this was also messy to eat but worth it!
