I’ve become a bit addicted to tiffins – these little tins which stack on top of one another are the Indian version of the bento box, lots of compartments to make a nice picnic style lunch. I was so inspired while I was at Tuk Tuk for their Tiffin Lunch that I came straight home and ordered one for my own work lunches!
We arrived at Tuk Tuk to tandoor issues. I’m guessing tandoor issues are the equivalent of the cooker breaking down for an Indian restaurant so proceedings were delayed a little – it was ok though, we were kept going with two rounds of poppadums and chutney, and given my love of poppadums this was no bad thing.
We also took advantage of our Foodinburgh Cards and had a free Lassi and Cocktail.
The Tiffin Lunch is £12 and runs between 12pm and 4pm. You can choose one roadside plate (your starter), two street curries, and a side of naan or rice.
Everything is delivered to you in a personal Tiffin. On the top layer of ours, Chicken Lollipops and Pakora Platter.
We chose the four meat curries included – Butter Chicken, Railway Station Lamb Curry, Bombay Chilli Chicken, and Lamb Kolhapuri. There are also the following vegetarian options – Sag Paneer, Tarka Dhal, Baby Aubergine & Potato, and Aloo Gobi.
We also had one each of the rice and naan which we shared.
We really enjoyed the Tiffin Lunch and would definitely go back, it’s a good way to dine if you’re in a group as you can choose to have your own Tiffin, or get a few to share.
