Whether you’re visiting Edinburgh, or just looking for somewhere new to take the kids, look no further. Here are our top favourite places to eat with kids in Edinburgh and why!
Luca’s as it’s known is a famous ice cream shop which also has a really great cafe attached. There are two branches, one in Morningside and the other in Musselburgh.
Great for breakfasts and lunch (and of course ice cream). We love it because it’s great value, has a traditional feel, and the kids chicken nuggets are good enough for adults too!
China Red is a chinese buffet restaurant with a difference. Kids will love helping themselves to mini dishes from the conveyor belt which passes beside their seat.
Great for a low cost and filling dinner. We love it because it’s such great fun, and the food is decent quality too.
An independently owned frozen yogurt company in various locations in Edinburgh, offering a big selection of flavours, toppings and drinks so the kids can make loads of different combos. The Bubble Tea is a must try!
Mimi’s is an independently owned cake shop located at the shore in Leith (there’s also a small take away on the Royal Mile). A wide range of cakes, muffins and bars are made daily in their on site bakery.
Kids will love selecting their own slab of cake from the glass display. Go hungry, the portion sizes are on the generous side!
Authentic American food in Edinburgh. Located in the Bruntsfield area of the city, we think Frontier would be especially popular with older kids and teens.
Great for hearty portions and proper homemade nachos. We love the Frontier meat platter, a porky, ribby, briskety tin trough of goodness. Oh yeah, and kids will love the Oreo shakes too.
If you love indian food, head for Tuk Tuk in Bruntsfield. Served as mini dishes tapas style, it’s great for dining with kids that are happy to try different foods.
The food is delicious, but be warned, the portions are quite small. We love the fun decor and the tandoori lamb chops!
One of our favourite diners in Edinburgh, Burger serves hot dogs, speciality burgers and poutine.
Great for family dining on a budget. We love the quality of the burgers and hot dogs. Don’t miss out on the homemade sorbets, well worth a tasting!
Coro The Chocolate Cafe
Coro The Chocolate Cafe is in Stockbridge, a great area of the city for a wander. Coro serves waffles, pancakes, crepes as well as a huge variety of luxury hot chocolates. It’s quite simply chocolate heaven for kids.
Great for a weekend or holiday treat. We love the crepes, waffles and pancakes served with enough chocolate to satisfy evens the sweetest of tooths.
The Huxley is located at the West End of the city. It has a pub vibe but is child friendly with kids activity packs and a kids menu.
Great for when you don’t want to go somewhere to child oriented. You can enjoy a pint here and the kids will be happy enough too. Serves burgers, hot dogs and some unusual ice cream flavours to keep the kids entertained.
Finally, Oink, the king of street food in Edinburgh. Located on Victoria Street, between the Grassmarket and Royal Mile.
Budget friendly hog roast rolls that will see you through to dinner. We love it because it’s absolutely delicious and everyone has their favourite combo. Wash it all down with a bottle of Irn Bru if you are visiting and looking for an authentic Scottish experience!
