We must have been craving Italian food because following on from our lunch at Tony Macaroni’s, we had lunch at another Italian restaurant, this time in Edinburgh.
The Vittoria group has been established since 1970 and is a well known and respected name around Edinburgh parts. We had lunch in their Leith Walk restaurant, they also have a restaurant on George IV bridge as well as La Favorita, Divino Enoteca and Little Italy.
Vittoria On The Walk has been serving up traditional Italian dishes for 45 years, that’s pretty impressive for a restaurant that’s situated in a very competitive city.
Their lunch menu offered two courses for £11.95 so we plumped for that.
I had the Antipasto Misto Platter which included a selection of Italian meats, pickles and cheese. My dining partner had the Macaroni Cheese Croquettes. I’m afraid to say that on this occasion I made the wrong choice, the platter was nice, but the macaroni cheese croquettes (pictured above) looked better.
We were having difficulty choosing which mains to go for so we opted for two classics and decided to share. We were impressed that the staff had clearly been paying attention and had portioned our Ham & Pineapple Pizza and Spaghetti Carbonara for us, it saved us doing that awkward food juggle thing when you’re sharing.
If you’re looking for traditional Italian food close to The Playhouse theatre, Vittoria On The Walk is a good option.
