Ziggys, St Andrews
January 11, 2016

Ziggys was established the same year I was born, 1983. That’s a long time for a restaurant to stay open and be successful, they must be doing something right!

This was our second time at Ziggys and once again we were particularly impressed, in particular the ribs and steak.

Down a side street, Ziggys in St Andrew’s answer to the Hard Rock Cafe. There’s memorabilia all over the walls and the speakers pump out your favourite rock songs back to back. The menu features steak, ribs, fajitas and burritos.

We ordered the standard round of cokes. With restaurants like Ziggys, it’s the little touches that make them stand out and we appreciated our frozen glasses.

We had The Ziggys Big Dish Sharer to start, there was more than enough for the three of us! The platter included chicken strips, ribatisers, potato skins, onion rings and breaded mushrooms.

The mixed fajitas with chicken and steak. A huge portion and very generous on the meat.

The kids burger was huge, our nine year old couldn’t finish it – the portions are great if you have older kids with bigger appetites. Kids meals are £5.75 and include a main course, a side, and a dessert.

After some deliberation I still couldn’t choose between the steak and ribs so went for a half rack with a rib eye. The ribs at Ziggys are excellent, as is the steak. I recommend if you’re visiting that you get a dish that features one or both of these. The ribs come with a barbecue or maple glaze option and there’s a choice of sauces for the steak, I can vouch for the peppercorn which was rich and creamy.

Unfortunately there wasn’t must space for dessert but we were keen to try one of the sharing sundaes so the waitress kindly made us a smaller version (pictured above).

Child Friendly: Older kids and teens will love it. Kids menu is good value and good portions.
