On our second night’s stay in Dundee, we decided to switch hotels as  Erica had always fancied the Hotel Indigo.  This hotel sits slightly further out from the centre of Dundee but still within easy walking distance.  It actually suited us better as there was hotel parking right at the front door.

Hotel Indigo is a former textile mill that sits in a courtyard setting it shares with the Staybridge Suites (Erica has stayed there before and loved it!) The outside is a pretty impressive, tall building and with a really cool landmark bell tower.

We were equally impressed with the reception area which was full of memorabilia from the 70s/80s and, we loved how they had kept all the artefacts from the Mill, you could really feel the nostalgia throughout the entire hotel. Check in was extremely friendly and very professional, and best of all, really quick!  We were given a room on the third floor which had views over the City towards the River Tay, apparently the suites on the upper floors have even better views over Dundee.

We loved our room, it was a good sized, well equipped space which was immaculately clean and, the more we looked around, the more detail relating to the Mill we found. The bricked curved ceiling for example – this alone made the room pretty remarkable and gave it that special something.

The bathroom was really lovely too with unusual products that really suited their brand. We loved the walk in rain shower and there was plenty hot water (something we seem to be struggling to get at other hotels at the moment!).

The bed was really comfy with crisp, fresh white linen and seriously good pillows.  The whole space was very relaxing, warm and despite them going for the minimalist look, it was cosy, welcoming and offered lots of spaces for chilling out.

We didn’t have breakfast there, but this was an option for £10 per person. There is also, what looked like a really nice restaurant there too, called the Daisy Tasker named after after a 14 year old young girl who used to work in the Mill, again, another cool nod to the Mill they now occupy.

We paid £65 for our room which we both felt was great value for a 4 star hotel of that standard. Hotel Indigo offers a unique experience, which is quirky and different from other offerings in the 4 star niche.  We will definitely go back there and would absolutely consider one of their other Hotels, of which there are loads!
